There has been a lot of chatter in the forums about this one lately, and it only came out this morning; even then it’s exclusive to Paddy Power/Betfair until the beginning of October.
So, why is this new slot getting more attention than the rest? Well, it’s because this is the 3rd it BTG’s series of 4096 ways series, and the two that came before it – Danger High Voltage and The Final Countdown – were very popular indeed.
However, even though the graphics and moving background are atmospheric, and the soundtrack contains music from The Cult which is a great shout from the developers, this isn’t the main draw for Lil’ Devil – so what is?
Come with me and I’ll tell you.
Isn’t it great when a slot comes up with a few different ways to keep gameplay varied and fun?
A lot of titles stick with cut and paste features like a basic wild and a scatter to access free spins, but this gets old fast so it’s refreshing when you get a more dynamic game that also throws in a bit of player choice at points, and that’s exactly what this devilish little game does.
It’s a volatile little bugger with an acceptable RTP of 96.43%, so let’s look at what else you can expect from it.
Just like the angel and the devil on your shoulder, there is a devil wild and an angel wild in this game.
The devil wild operates in the normal fashion subbing in for all symbols except the scatter, but the angel wild takes the full reel and comes with a multiplier between 4x and 12x, and if you get two on the same spin you could net a maximum 144x multiplier.
That certainly would be heavenly.
You’ve got a choice of two different free spins rounds if you manage 3 or more scatters on a single spin.
Both offer potentially big rewards but the volatility between them differs.
- Be My Angel Free Spins – During your 7 free spins, a random symbol is chosen to act as a sticky wild on reels 2-5. If you fill reels 3 or 4 with sticky wilds they will transform into an angel wild with a 4x multiplier and if you fill any reel with sticky wilds you get 3 extra free spins. Plus, you can increase the multiplier up to 12x. This is the most volatile feature round.
- Dynamite Lover Free Spins – There are 12 free spins in this round, and any wins are removed and replaced with new symbols to potentially create several wins from a single spin. Plus, land a devil’s wild on reels 3 or 4 as part of a win and your multiplier will increase by 1x. Lastly, landing 3 more scatters bags you 6 more free spins; each further scatter after that is worth a further 6 free spins.
Heartstopper Enhanced Free Spins
This is the extra touch for me that gives the game such dynamism.
As you play the base game you can collect hearts by landing 2 scatters in a single spin. These will accumulate until you fill the meters on either side of the reels (you need 40 altogether) and when you do you will trigger free spins as described above, but they will be enhanced as follows:
- Be My Angel – The purple locket acts as an additional sticky wild so 2 symbols are serving this purpose.
- Dynamite Lover – Instead of starting at 1x, your multiplier will start at 5x.
This means that you will eventually hit the feature round even if you have been unlucky with scatters, but what’s more, your hearts don’t reset if you do hit the feature round by landing 3 scatters. That’s a classy move.
Give it a Spin?
Definitely give it a spin, but only if you have a bankroll that can handle it. This one is no joke.
It’s great fun to play and really draws you in, it also has a lot of extra purchase in the form of the additional features and the music from The Cult, but if you go in there with a tenner and a naive smile it will chew you up and spit you out.
A ‘cult’ hit though, no doubt about it; a great effort from BTG.
